Beatrijs De Klerck - Portfolio
Beatrijs De Klerck started playing piano at the age of 4 and violin at the age of 6. It was clear that she had a passion for music early on and her abilities were recognized. As a child she was the recipient of multiple music awards in National Youth competitions.
At the age of 17, Beatrijs began studying violin with Nico Baltussen and Wim De Moor at LUCA School of Arts in Leuven, Belgium. She received her Master Degree for Violin in 2008. Coinciding with her passion for music was a growing interest in Music Therapy for which she received a Master Degree in 2011.
Since 2011, Beatrijs has combined work as a professional performing
musician with a dedicated practice in music therapy. You will often find
her on stage or recording in a studio, and she also works at the National
MS Center in Belgium giving music therapy sessions to patients who
suffer from Multiple sclerosis.
Although a classically trained violinist, Beatrijs’ love of music has fostered
collaborations in many different music genres. Over the past couple of years
she's been regularly performing with bands including A Winged Victory For
The Sullen, Sleepingdog, Anton Walgrave, DadaWaves, Marble Sounds,
Jan Swerts, Emile Verstraeten, Spencer The Rover and many others. She’s currently a member of Illuminine and she also regularly performs with Will Samson and Christina Vantzou.
Characteristic of her playing is a colorful range of dynamics both with or without the use of effect pedals. She tirelessly seeks to capture the delicate moments in music, to create atmospheres, and to play with silence amidst sound and melody. Apart from playing violin, keys and vocals, Beatrijs recently introduced the theremin into her arsenal of instruments, which she has used both on stage and in the recording studio.
